About BGI: Business Growth Initiative
The Business Growth Initiative exists to support business growth in the Greater Washington DC region.
Complete the FREE 15 minute assessment and get enrolled in this groundbreaking program, starting in January 2025 . Fifty businesses from the DMV region will be selected to participate in this comprehensive program and all you need to do to qualify is complete the FREE assessment. Participants will be required to participate in 90 minute monthly webinars.
The Greater Washington DC region is rich in resources, but under performs economically against other regions. In partnership with The Greater Washington Board of Trade, the BGI has developed a 12-month FREE Business assessment and improvement program.
The Greater Washington DC region including; Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland ranks 41 out of the top 56 regions in the nation for economic prosperity, per Brookings Metro Monitor 2024.

Participation in the Business Management program is Free to quaifying Small Business owners. All Participants start the program by completing an analysis of their business with an industry expert.

Empowering Possibilities Together
Once you complete the FREE Competitive Business Analysis we will schedule a one-on-one virtual meeting with a trained advisor to review the reports findings.
Qualifying small businesses will be invited to participate in an extended 12-month Business Management | Growth program.
Based on your industry you will be placed in a Cohort, with required once a month virtual meetings.

Value Gap
Your value gap represents the difference between what your business is worth today (Business Value) and how much it could be worth (Potential Value). In other words, how many dollars you are leaving on the table due to operation and market weaknesses. The full circle shown in this chart represents your potential business value. Enterprise Value is a measure of business value based on what a theoretical buyer would pay for a business after conducting a thorough due dilligence. It is calculated based on the ability of the busness to generate future revenue and profit using an algorithm that includes industry normalized trading ranges, financial performance, and the calculated CoreValue Rating.
In some cases, Strategic Buyers within specific industries will pay above this financial value and thereby create strategic value. These buyers will purchase a specific asset or capability they believe can be leveraged beyond how the business performs today. It is important to understand that strategic value can change quickly and should not be fully relied on when planning for the future.
